Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if it is raining? Is there any weather policy?
In the case of consistent inclement weather, we will make our best efforts to post an update on www.mlsfutbolito.com by 12:00pm the day before the event day. If an event is canceled due to inclement weather, we will explore rescheduling options and notify all registered teams. Games will be played as long as the field remains playable as determined by the tournament director. If the event is cancelled and is not rescheduled, all teams will receive a full refund within 30 days of the cancellation.
2. What is the refund policy?
If a tournament begins but cannot be completed due to inclement weather or other dangerous conditions, full refunds will be offered if a team has not completed all of their round robin matches prior to the suspension of the tournament. There will be no refund if a team has completed all of their round robin matches. The tournament director has 30 days to refund the registration fee if applicable.
3. Can I pay the same day of the event?
No, all teams must register and submit payment in advance.
4. Can I play in two different teams in the same city/event?
No, participants are only allowed to play for one team per event.
5. What’s the waiver? Where can I get one?
Every player (or guardian of a player if the participant is under 18) must complete and sign a waiver. The waiver form is posted here. Waivers MUST BE COMPLETED in order for a team to check-in. No player will be allowed to participate without a waiver.
6. What if I want to work at the event?
If you are interested in volunteering or working as a referee, please call (888) MLS-FUTBOLITO.
7. Do we have to have a coach?
Every youth team must have a coach. Adult teams do not need a coach. The coach or team captain will be the main point of contact and also represent the team at check-in on the day of the event.
8. Can I buy food or drinks at the event?
We encourage teams to bring their own drinking water. The tournament will make its best efforts to accommodate a food and beverage vendor. Alcohol is not permitted onsite.
9. Can a youth player play in the adult divisions?
Youth players may participate in adult divisions, but must submit a signed waiver in order to play.
10. What equipment (clothing) does the team need?
Teams must be prepared to provide matching light & dark colored shirts for each game. Each player MUST wear shin guards.
11. Are women allowed to play in the Premier Adult Division?
Yes, the Premier Adult Division is open to all participants. There may also be Adult Recreational – Male & Female divisions. There will NOT be a designated Co-ed division.
12. How many players can I have on the roster?
The minimum number of players is 3 and the maximum is 7.
13. Can we change our team name?
There are no team name changes. The tournament director reserves the right change a team name at their discretion.
14. What is the ball size? What is the field size?
U10 Division and under – size 4, U12 Division and over – size 5. Fields: 30yds x 20yds.
15. What will qualify for acceptable “proof of age”?
Any ID with the player’s picture that indicates the player’s age; player card, passport, driver’s license or birth certificate with photo ID.
16. How much does it cost to play in MLS Futbolito?
Premier Adult: $150; Recreational Adult and Youth: $120.
17. When is the deadline to pre-register a team?
Monday, the week of the event. However, if the event sells out, registration will close early.
18. What do we get when we win?
The winning team of the Premier Adult Division will receive $2,000 and the second place team will receive $1,000. The 1st and 2nd place teams of all divisions will receive medals.
19. What do we get for participating in the tournament?
Each player will receive MLS Futbolito League and Partner giveaways, and the ability to receive an MLS Game Ticket, where applicable.
20. How many games are guaranteed?
Due to forfeits, team expulsions and other situations outside of our control, MLS Futbolito cannot guarantee a set number of games. However, most teams can expect to play a minimum of three matches. First round games will be played in a round-robin format. A predetermined amount of teams (dependent upon number of participating teams) will advance to single elimination playoffs.
21. When do we get our schedule?
The tournament will do its best efforts to post the schedule online the day prior to the event. Schedules will be handed out onsite when a team turns in their completed waiver.
22. Am I able to pay with a check?
We do accept personal checks – make checks payable to: GMR Marketing LLC. Mail a completed REGISTRATION FORM with your check or money order to:

Checks must be received five (5) days prior to the event date in order to register your team. It is our practice to deposit returned checks automatically and without notice. A $30 processing fee may be charged for checks returned by the bank for non-sufficient funds (NSF checks).
23. What are the other forms of payment?
You can register and pay online via credit card, over the phone, and in cash or money order at one of the local registration sites.
24. What info do I need to register?
The following information is required: 1.) Coach/Captain name, address, birth date, phone, and email; 2.) City you want to compete in, team name, division, male/female, and age, 3.) Method of payment.
